The calm before the storm.

Don’t get too excited for spring sports just yet; the North Forsyth Swim Team has one more meet until the high school swim season is officially over. This meet is the pinnacle meet of the year for swim teams all around Georgia as they compete in the High School State Championship at Georgia Tech. In just a few days, every top notch swimmer in the Peach State will be in one jam-packed aquatic center overflowing with intensity, sweat, and gallons of chlorine.

While just qualifying to swim at the State Championships is a huge accomplishment, the Raiders have some swimmers within striking range of making finals (top 16 swimmers in an event) or even medaling (top 3 swimmers in an event). Senior Kaylyn Thomas aims to snatch the title as the state champion in the 200 freestyle this weekend. She placed 3rd in the 200 free last year. Also, many swimmers like Emily Carroll, Owen Wickman, Kelsey Robins, Jack Dalmolin, Nicole Sullivan, and Rachel Sullivan are just outside of making state finals, and aim to drop time to secure a spot in the top 16. Numerous other swimmers qualified to swim on the Raider’s relays or the diving events. If you see one of these swimmers this week, wish them luck!
