Thursday, February 5th, the Raider’s dive team travelled to Georgia Tech to compete in the 6-AAAAAA GHSA state competition. Seniors McKay Middleton and Eric Decker are returning divers to the state competition, and senior Josiah Selvig competed for his first time. With 39 of the best divers in the state competiting in the dive meet, it is difficult to secure a spot in the top 20, yet all three boys placed within this frame. Middleton came in 19th place, and Selvig snagged 14th. Decker presented a 23.5 cumulative degree of difficulty (among the three highest of the meet) and ranked an impressive 12th place among the divers.

Middleton and Decker began the diving program their junior year, so it is a bittersweet ending for the divers. “Now that I look back, I see things that I could have changed or improved on,” stated Eric Decker after the competition, “But I gave it everything I had when I stepped on that board. I hope me and the boys have inspired others to pursue the North Forsyth diving program. It truly was an amazing experience.”
