We Are Classified By Our Color

It should not matter the color of our skin, it should not matter the curliness of our hair. We are human beings, and deserve equal respect as anyone of any other race does. We weren’t born hating someone because they are not the same shade, we are taught. We are faced with lies, and trickery in society that black is bad and evil; white is good and pure.

We are shamed because of our skin

You act like it’s a deadly sin

We are written down, simple words in history

Although there is no mystery

From where we came

But who is really to blame

We are classified by our color

Not allowed to love another

Our wild curls, our poofy hair

But do you even really care?

They hate our dark shade

But that was how we were made

So many who are milky skinned

Why are we the ones being pinned

We as black people are blamed for all that is wrong

Everyone just simply plays along

What society shows you is fake

So what are you to make?

No one is born hating a race

Now please keep up with the pace

My complexion does not define me

But you are the one holding the key

Love knows no color

Neither should any other
