As of yesterday, One Direction band member Niall Horan announced that his band of five years was indeed breaking up.

“I thought it was about time we told our fans the truth,” Horan said, “they deserve that much, after the chance they took on us at the beginning of our career.”

Meanwhile, Directioners all over the world are rebelling. The rest of the band’s tour has been boycotted, and, in result, the tour has been cancelled.

Some fans went as far as to stop listening to One Direction’s music. Now they have not only dropped from the World’s Best Boy Band top 10 list but they plummeted from the top 100, and are continuing to drop.

Regardless of the fan’s reactions, the band claims that it is time to go their separate ways, especially now that one member is a soon-to-be father.

“Louis’ future baby is anything but the reason the band is breaking up,” Liam Payne, band member, told reporters, “all members have never been more grateful to our fans who have blessed us these past five years. We all just sat down and decided that it was time to move on and pursue our solo careers.”

When asked to make a comment about Horan’s shocking reveal, Louis Tomlinson, One Direction member, made no comment. He did, however, tweet the afternoon of the reveal, “The way you fans found out about the band breaking up absolutely gutted me. I give my sincerest apologies to anyone we have let down.”  An hour after this was tweeted, it got taken down. Many people found this strange, especially considering how active Tomlinson is on Twitter.

Even above the anger and sadness, fans continue to show support. “One Direction has been part of my life for years, and as much as this decision upsets me, I understand that it is time for them to move on,” Alaine Rumourous said. This fan, however, took it well compared to many others.

When a randomly chosen admirer was asked about the news, Mo Chanion cried, “When I heard the news, I could not stop sobbing. I sat down on my couch and ate three pints of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream while the One Direction movie played on repeat.”

Meanwhile, Zayne Malik had tons to say on the matter at the Single Soloist Convention the following day, “It’s about time the band realized it was better this way. It was never the same after I left.”

Harry Styles has been bombarded with hate from this announcement. Regardless of it all, he still shows his appreciation to his fans, “We are deeply sorry to anyone we have hurt. We still love our fans, and we will continue to love our fans, no matter what is in store for each band member.”

The band has not made an appearance together since the announcement.
