An Attitude of Gratitude

It’s important to focus on and appreciate the little things in our everyday life. We tend to only give thanks on special holidays when we should be doing this every day.

The sound of leaves crunching, wind blowing

The taste of freshly made pumpkin pie, and perfectly baked turkey –

We all have something that excites us or makes our mouth water in anticipation

During the season.

Greetings and thank you’s echo through each family room

Excitement, Disappointment, Tiredness

We all feel something.

Gifts scatter, loved ones sharing and laughing

Appreciating the company of those we don’t always see

Parents constantly repeating,

“I appreciate the presents”, and “We are abundantly thankful for your company”

Reflecting, Remembering, Appreciating

These feelings of gratitude appear one holiday or another,

Yet fade away with the weather

And leave just as they came.

Seasons change, individuals move and shape themselves once again

No company, nor table, nor gifts piling

That thankful attitude that once was, no longer is.

Imagine a world

Where appreciation for little things

Overrules all power from negativity established by what

We do not possess

A world where

“Giving thanks”

Acclimates into an everyday routine,

Rather than a holiday occurrence
