Sitting atop the hill, up a ways north, is Regal Dawson: a glorious local theater made to create cinematic experiences and enhance the viewing experience. A captivating building sat alone atop its tar home, the theater provides entertainment to any who comes.
Most importantly, the atmosphere of the establishment is, in a way, rural amazement. Architecturally, the front end presents an old-timey design: a line of lit-up movie posters along a wall with slightly old paint . Its enlarged parking lot provides a deep contrast to the tall building, and its usually empty entrance creates a comfortingly creepy climate.
Compared to other theaters near the school, Regal Dawson is by far the closest. Along with its ideal proximity, it has well-maintained facilities and comfortable seating. Before even entering a showing, its wide array of savory snacks, sweet treats and drinks invites customers as they walk in. To add, there is also an array of arcade games along the wall, with a photo booth and regularly changed movie-themed cutouts opposite them.
Though the manager declined an interview, citing company policy, the employees were still very friendly and maintained a positive, professional attitude. Movie-goer Seth Frost states, “It’s pretty relaxed,” explaining that the seats are very comfortable. His favorite snack to get there is a small popcorn.
Despite being a smaller theater, it boasts a modern, wide array of movie showings. Currently, it spans from the latest Conjuring film, to the first installment of the anime Demon Slayer’s trilogy, to Freakier Friday–even with showtimes of the reprise of Toy Story. And worry not of missing a timing, Regal Dawson is open from 11 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. every day, riddled with showings at the viewer’s convenience.
Regal Dawson holds itself to a high standard of film presentation and customer care, capturing the wonder of movies inside its old beige walls. Though not as fancy as others, this theater is incomparable in its retro atmosphere.
