Readers around the campus of North Forsyth High School have had good fortune this year with anticipated book releases during the year of 2025. September especially has been filled with books people have been eagerly awaiting, and below are the top five books releasing this month.
- “A Killer Wedding” by Joan O’Leary
If you enjoy mystery thrillers, check out the book by Joan O’Leary coming out Sept. 23. The novel takes place at an Irish wedding, following the perspective of a journalist who falls into the dark secrets of a family at the wedding. It involves billionaires, hasty cover-ups and humorous appeal, set to catch you on the edge of your seat.
- “Sunward” by William Alexander
A sci-fi read coming out on Sept. 16, Alexander cooked up his first adult novel. The book includes a fun tale of found family, interspatial wars and a battle fought by androids for humanity’s survival. Alexander has written young adult up until now, and some of his works include A Properly Unhaunted Place and A Festival of Ghosts.
- “You’ve Found Oliver” by Dustin Thao
If you’re looking for a sweet romance to sweep you off your feet, look for Thao’s contemporary romance novel coming out Sept. 30. The second book in the You’ve Reached Sam series, “You’ve Found Oliver”, can be read with its first book or as a stand-alone. The story follows Sam’s best friend Oliver as he deals with real-world issues and receives an unexpected response from a number that, up until now, had always gone to voicemail. The romance involves hints of the supernatural and explores the theme of moving on after you hit rock bottom.
- “Thief of Night” by Holly Black
The sequel to Black’s book, “Book of Night”, “Thief of Night” follows a con artist as she works for a powerful shadow-wielding society. To save the love of her life, the main character, Charlie Hall, must hunt dangers and face harrowing challenges. Black has written a thrilling supernatural story to catch your attention and take you into the unknown.
- “Every Spiral of Fate” by Tahereh Mafi
Mafi’s fourth installation to her This Woven Kingdom series is a story revolving around warring empires, yearning for magic and love and a formidable change in the lives of main characters, Alizeh and Cyrus. The book is centered around the pair’s wedding, and will involve secrets being revealed, a clash of two empires and the unbreakable love the couple shares. Her story comes out Sept. 30, and if you are a fan of empires, dragons, and perilous journeys, the This Woven Kingdom series is exactly what you want to be reading.
