Coming out soon in early November of 2025 is the highly anticipated “Predator: Badlands,” starring Elle Fanning. The film is projected to be one of the biggest films of 2025.
Elle Fanning will be joined by actor Demitrius Koloamatangi. Koloamatangi is best known for his role as Will Ilolahia in the 2021 film “The Panthers.’’ Fanning is best known for her role as Aurora in Disney’s 2014 live action “Maleficent.”
The film shows a young, outcast Predator named Dek who, with the unlikely help of human-like android Thia, journeys across a far-away and deadly planet called Genna to hunt the “ultimate” prey. The film explores the two of them, vulnerable, as they are hunted by others.
This epic sci-fi action film will be directed by Dan Trachtenberg, who is an American filmmaker. Trachtenberg is no stranger to the predator franchise; he directed the 2022 film “Prey” and is best known for his horror-thriller “10 Cloverfield Lane” from 2016. The latter earned him a nomination for the Directors Guild of America Award for Outstanding Directing.
In this new installment, Predator will be shown as a protagonist and it will focus on his culture. Viewers should expect to see a PG-13 rating with a lot of blood and gore. The movie will take the franchise in a brand new direction, a refresh for fans of the series. Reviewers have described the film as fresh and entertaining.
As the movie will feature only two cast members, Fanning and Koloamatangi, the main focus of this film is Dek and Thia. The smaller cast allows for the exploration of both characters and their relationship with each other.
A Rotten tomatoes movie critic named Linnea Jasmine said, “I was honestly stunned by how good Predator: Badlands was. The story, the moral, the acting, the effects, even a few laughs. It had everything. What really surprised me is how different it feels from the other Alien or Predator movies. Some people might not like that, I loved it.”
