Known for her unique voice and musical style, American singer-songwriter Billie Eilish is a notable and outgoing figure in modern pop culture.
Eilish was born on Dec. 18, 2001, and started her music career at 14. She has accomplished so much and significantly influenced the music industry, now a ten-time Grammy winner with 34 total nominations.
In 2015, her debut song, “Ocean Eyes,” quickly made her famous and helped her become one of the most well-known pop stars. With help from her older brother, Finneas O’Connell, she contributed to the profession of making music from their bedroom.
In 2017, Eilish released her debut EP, “Don’t Smile At Me”, which was recognized worldwide. From the raw beats of “COPYCAT” to the soft rhymes of “Idontwannabeyouanymore,” Eilish was rapidly becoming a role model for teens, adults and kids throughout time. In addition, Eilish is always seen with an edgy and outgoing style in clothing. Then, in 2018, Eilish and Khalid collaborated and created one of the most popular songs: “Lovely.”
As fame continued to grow, 17-year-old Eilish released her first studio album “WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO” in 2019. It features hits like “BAD GUY” and “When the party’s over,” which attracted more listeners than before. This album won eight Grammys in 2020 across major categories, including Album of the Year and Song of the Year. Also that year, Eilish and her O’Connell, wrote the song “No Time to Die” for the 25th James Bond movie.
With more singles like “Everything I Wanted,” Eilish kept pursuing her career in writing and releasing the album “Happier Than Ever,” her second studio album. It explores themes of self-love, self-discovery and self-appreciation. Unlike her past ideas of nightmares, terrors and teenage heartbreaks, this album dove into a new, catchy vibe.
Eilish started touring once again in 2022 after the pandemic. During her “Happier Than Ever” world tour, she composed the two songs, “TV” and “The 30th,” which appear on the “Guitar Songs” EP. These two songs were written during an emotional period for Eilish while she was on tour.
The song “What Was I Made For?” became extremely popular after the 2023 movie Barbie. It won a Grammy in the category of Best Song Written For Visual Media in February of 2024. From making music videos to singing on the stage, Billie Eilish set the spotlight for more to come.
Her new album, “Hit Me Hard And Soft,” has taken the spotlight once again in May of 2024. It is Eilish’s third studio album. It explores themes such as purpose and passion and proves that dreams come true. In that album, “Birds of a Feather” became a hit and the centerpiece. Other songs, like “BITTERSUITE” and “LUNCH,” also attracted new fans.
Recently, in February 2026, Eilish won a Grammy Award for Song of the Year for “Wildflower.” As she thanked everyone who supported her, she proclaimed, “No one is illegal on stolen land.” She also said “we need to keep fighting, and speaking up and protesting” about the ongoing events of this year. After the Grammy Awards, Billie Eilish did not walk out empty-handed, but proud instead.
