According to the Monroe County Coroner Mark Goolsby, a deadly shooting had occurred at the end of the evening on Feb. 2. On Monday, Feb. 2, at around 9 p.m, the location of the shooting was at the victim’s home, the Forsyth Gardens Apartments. In total, the shooting only resulted in one casualty.
Authorities were quickly called to the scene, as neighbors of the victim heard shots being fired from around the area. Therefore, the murder was rapidly reported to 911. Once authorities arrived at the scene, Goolsby was able to clearly state that the victim was found dead at his apartment. Since then, authorities have transferred the search for the gunmen to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI).
As reported by the WGXA, the GBI has identified the victim as 29-year-old Gregory Quentez Middlebrooks from Forsyth, GA. Authorities found Middlebrooks dead near his vehicle. Also, once EMTs arrived, they were able to confirm he died from one gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.
As well as identifying the victim, the GBI was quickly able to identify the gunman who shot Middlebrooks as 32-year-old Roderious Laquantez Gooddrum. The gunman also happens to be from Jackson, GA.
Prior to the shooting, both Middlebrooks and Gooddrum were having an intense argument for an unknown reason. However, the argument quickly came to an end as Gooddrum had a firearm on him. The argument ultimately led to Middlebrook’s death and Gooddrum fled the scene.
The following day, Tuesday, Feb. 3, Gooddrum was arrested by the GBI. Also, he has been charged with both felony murder and aggravated assault. However, he has yet to be prosecuted by the Towaliga District Attorney’s office.
