On April 15, North Forsyth High School hosted an event called Spring Fling, for students during Raider Time and Wellness, where they were given the opportunity to play games, be creative and enjoy the warm spring weather. North offered tickets for the event for $5 or 50 points through the PBIS reward system.
During this spring event, many activities were offered. In the creative selection, there was rock painting, where students could paint rocks with acrylic markers and other materials. There was also face painting, where people could get their faces painted and decorated with jewels. Lastly, there was shade decorating, which allowed people to decorate sunglasses with acrylic markers.
Additionally, North offered many other sports-related activities such as inflatable axe throwing, football, basketball, cornhole, spikeball and giant beach volleyball.
Regarding refreshments and concessions, plenty of snacks and drinks were provided. At North’s concession stand, chips, soda and candy were available, as well as free water. Kona Ice trucks were also accessible, providing cool and refreshing frozen treats to fight off the spring heat, with small, medium and large sizes of shaved ice available.
Furthermore, members of Baking for the Brave also sold cookies for Cookies Against Cancer, selling two for $5 in a variety of flavors, such as red velvet, chocolate chip, cookies and cream and Biscoff.
Many students enjoyed the chance of having free time and the opportunity to hang out with friends. One student, Kshetra Mallakalula, a freshman at North, said, “It was fun running around with your friends,” and “[it was] fun because we were all competing against each other to see [who could] get more points,” when playing basketball. This illustrates her excitement and how she was able to spend time with friends doing something fun.
Another student, Vivienne Tolley, a sophomore at North, stated that Spring Fling “gave [her] the opportunity to hang out with [her] friends,” which shows how Spring Fling gives students the chance to connect with their peers.
Additionally, another sophomore, Valeria Leon-Vazquez, expressed her appreciation for sunglass painting, stating, “My favorite activity was painting and drawing on the sunglasses because it was nice to just sit down and do something relaxing.” Spring Fling allowed students to catch a quick break to do something relaxing.
Overall, this event showed a great opportunity for a nice break and a good time to have fun with friends while enjoying the new warm weather of spring.
