The U.S is fielding a wide variety of athletes to the 2014 Winter Games

The opening ceremony for the 2014 Winter Olympics began at 11:00 am Eastern Time today in Sochi, Russia; however, NBC will not be airing it on television until 7:30 pm tonight. The ceremony that will kick off the most expensive Olympic Games in history will mainly feature Russian classical music composers playing for the crowds. With 98 events spread across a little less than 3 weeks, this year’s Winter Games will host the largest amount of events ever. Despite recent concerns over possible terrorist attacks on the games, Russian officials have claimed that they have done everything they could possibly do to ensure the safety of the athletes and spectators.
