Proudly on display in Academic Bowl coach Ms. Dykes’s room, the trophy stands as a reminder of all of the hard work the team put into the season.

In the excitement of the lady raider’s winning basketball season and their journey to the state championship, it is easy to forget about our very own unsung heroes of intelligence, the Academic Bowl team. On February 8th, the team participated in the state level RESA competition and won, meaning that our Academic Team performed better than every high school team on our level in the state of Georgia. This is certainly a huge achievement for our high school, and one that deserves being credited. The team meets every Monday and Tuesday in either Mr. Fahey’s room, or in their coach Ms. Dykes’s room from 3:40 to 5:30, and has rigorous practice sessions that are combined with outside studying and reading in order to remain a competitive team in our region.  “We basically run through common information during practice, and then go over all of the possible rounds in the actual competition,” says member Brittany Borzillo, 11th grade, “Its hard work, especially when you have to dedicate free time to studying outside of class.” The team is proud of each other’s hard work and happy to end such an amazing season with this outstanding achievement.
