Artisan Writers Reap Reward

Several students were recognized in this year for their written pieces, showing the amazing talent that North Forsyth has to offer.

Recently, Staff of The Raider Wire, North’s online newspaper had work entered in the 92nd Scholastic Art and Writing completion, an annual competition held by the Scholastic Art and Writing association as well as SCAD to give young writers and artists a change to be recognized for their work.

In total, over forty North Forsyth students were recognized, and ten won the Silver or Gold Key award. Their work has the opportunity to be displayed in an art show at SCAD on March 21st as well as to be submitted for higher honors. a sophomore, Savannah Keith, won the Gold Key for her poem Divination and is a nominee in the American Voices competition, the most prestigious award that can be won in the scholastic competition.

“It’s an honor to be recognized by such a prestigious art collage” Raicheal Havins said, who won an honorable mention for her piece Saltmarsh Smugglers.

The Savanah College of Art and Design (SCAD) is a well renowned art collage based in Savanah, however, the Atlanta campus is host to the art show, where the works of students will be displayed starting February 27th. There will also be a closing ceremony on March 21st, at which awards will be given to the winners
