Calling all runners! Simple Charity and Just One: Africa, non-profit organizations for global poverty, are partnering up and hosting a 5k and Fun Run on the morning of Saturday, March 28 at North Forsyth Middle School. Simple Charity is a Christian club at NFHS that hopes to “punch poverty in the face,” as members would say. With goals and hopes to raise $100,000 by the end of the school year for global problems such as world hunger, clean water, education, and housing, so far, they have raised $40,000 in Jesus’ name. Despite being a runner or not, anybody can join and raise money for those in need.

The 5k is $25 per person while the Fun Run (1 mile) for kids 13 years and younger is $15. Runner sign-in will begin at 7:15 am, the race will begin at 8:00 am, and the Fun Run will begin at 9:00 am. Runners will park outside of North Forsyth High’s Performing Arts Center. The start and finish line of the race will be at the side of North Forsyth Middle School. The run will go along Smith Lane and Fast Lane and around both the middle and high schools. All proceeds from the 5k will go to Just One: Africa to provide water filters for Kenyans. Each water filter costs $65 which can purify 1,000,000 gallons of water.  For every person who signs up to run, they will supply seven people with clean water for life. Additionally, Just One: Africa will be selling handmade jewelry made by Kenyans. Remaining 5k t-shirts will be sold at the event on a first come, first serve basis.
