D.I.Y. Duct Tape Flower Pen

Grace Wood, Staff Writer

  • Items You Need: ● A pen ● An X-acto knife or a pair of scissors (*Note: Be careful with the x-acto knife) ● At least one roll of any color duct tape ● A small roll of any colored Duct Tape (Optional) ● A cutting board or something to protect the table (Only need if you use the X-acto knife)

  • Step 1: First, the pen needs to be wrapped around with the small roll of duct tape like putting a bandage on. A larger roll of duct tape can also be used for this step by cutting out a piece of tape as long as the pen and rolling it on the pen.

  • Step 2: The larger roll of duct tape will be used to make the petals of the flower. The tape will be cut into approximately 25-30 two-inch strips; you can add more or less petals if you like and it is recommended to mix colors of duct tape, too. I prefer to use an x-acto knife to cut since it is faster and more efficient and scissors are hard to use with the stickiness of the tape but scissors will work if all else fails.

  • Step 3: After cutting the strips, fold the top right and left corners of the tape together like the start of making a paper airplane to make the petals. You will add the petals by tightly wrapping around the top of the pen until eventually you will have a flower!

  • Step 4: Before having fun with this cute and creative pen, you have to cover the messiness of it by wrapping the pen to it a clean look to it. Lastly, wrap the tape around the pen like in the first step.

  • Step 5: Enjoy!
