The North Forsyth Drama department is putting on their first show of the year called “A Piece of My Heart.” The dates for the show are Oct 18 at 7 p.m. and  Oct. 19 at 2 p.m and 7 p.m. The show is based on a true story about six courageous women sent to Vietnam and their struggles to make sense of the truly horrific war.

During the Vietnam war, the Red Cross women’s division had a total 1120 women serve in an 11-year-period. However, only 627 were a part of the Supplemental Recreation Activities Overseas (SRAO) program. The program consisted of single, female college graduates who were used primarily as morale boosters for U.S. combat troops in Vietnam. During the peak of conflict over in Vitamin, the red cross field directors were assisting an average of 22,500 men each month. Needless to say, life as a Red cross girl wasn’t easy. This play will highlight the women’s struggles to make sense of a war that has changed their nation forever.

The show will be followed by a showing of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” by William Shakespeare.
