On Monday, Sept.14 after school, North Forsyth’s JV Softball team faced the Lambert Longhorns. Played on Raider turf, the lady Raiders won the game with a final score of 16-0.

In the first inning, the Raiders scored 13 runs, pushing them forward with a strong lead, which tipped the game immensely in their favor.

“I think they came on with good intensity,” said Coach Catinella, who heads the JV Softball team.“I know that before the game they had a meeting and decided as a team, ‘let’s get this done early… let’s work together,’ and as a coach that’s just a great thing to hear.”

In the second inning, #16, Alexis Monroe, started off pitching. Three batters in a row were immediately outed as their balls were caught out of the air thanks to the strong defense that was paired with Monroe’s pitching skills. No players for Lambert were able to make it past first base. Thus, the score was still 16-0 as the players went into the third inning.

In the third inning, the Raiders started in the field, and through the power of both the pitcher and the defense, Lambert was unable to gain any more runs. Therefore, the game was cut short as the Raiders had a 16 point lead on the Longhorns, and the victory went to North.

“I am very proud of our JV team,” Coach Catinella said, “They represent our program well, they’re the future of North Forsyth softball… very talented group. [They’re a] very fun group. I’m excited for the future.”

Throughout the game, the Raiders showed spirit by chanting when they weren’t playing and showing their sheer strength, teamwork, and willpower while on the field. Though Lambert met North Forsyth with a combination of both strong pitchers and a willing defense, the Raiders retaliated with power and teamwork to both combat and dominate the other team. The team, though having a rocky start, redeemed themselves through the power of teamwork and determination.

The JV Softball team will go to the playoff semifinals on Sept. 19.
