NFHS Band Performs Their Holiday Concert
On Tuesday night, Dec. 8, North Forsyth High School Concert, Symphonic and Wind Ensemble bands performed their Winter Concert in the Performing Arts Center. The concert was streamed live to YouTube for any absentees and audience members that wished to view the bands. It started at 6 p.m. and lasted for three hours as it was evenly divided into three separate segments.
A large variety and mix of holiday music was played. Beautiful compilations of both folk and pop songs were heard. The Concert Band performed songs including “Santa at the Symphony,” “A Charlie Brown Christmas” and “Minka’s Sleigh Ride.” The Symphonic Band performed “We Wish You A Klezmer Christmas,” “Sleepsong” and “Christmas On Broadway.” The Wind Ensemble played “A Christmas Festival l,” “O Mio Babbino Caro,” ”Hanukkah Festival,” “Three Wise Guys” and “Sleigh Ride.”
Nathanael Hines, a senior in the Wind Ensemble, says “All the soloists did really good. The [Tenor] Sax solo in ‘Three Wise Guys’ was top tier” and states that his “personal favorite was ‘Christmas Festival.’ Their music was written phenomenally, and the execution was amazing.”
