It’s mesmerizing how a complex, unique structure can fall at the mere lick of a flame. The bonds between stone and mortar are strong throughout centuries of downpour, sunlight and age; however, a catastrophic candle sends the whole framework to ashes. Years of time, work, and effort poured into the construction gone, forever forgotten. Humans are a funny thing. They destroy, damage, and decimate all around them, yet they grasp on to legacies, anecdotes, and memories. The human race remembers the fallen: the Incas, the Romans, the Egyptians. We remember these empires. But, who will remember us? The greatest empire of them all? It’s funny how we thought it would last forever, but the flames licked at our heels, engulfed everything we built, and left everything in ashes.
