NFHS Football Ties in Scrimmage

To kick off football season early, the North Forsyth Raider Football Team participated in a scrimmage this past week on Friday, May 14, 2021, against Creekview. The final score ended 21-21 resulting in a tie between the two teams. Riley Smith, 5; Bentley Wheeler, 11; Patrick Corrigan, 7; and JT Francis, 62 led the team into the game by winning the coin toss.

 

During the first quarter, no points were scored for either team. Creekview had possession of the ball for most of it, in lots of playing time for the Raider defense. Notable players during the first quarter include Dylan Lyerly, 99; Chris Herock, 55; and Colin Miller, 52 with several blocks against Creekview. 

 

During the second quarter, Creekview scored the first touchdown making the score 0-7. The Raiders came back with Aidan Ruckh, 23, scoring a touchdown towards the end of the second quarter to tie up the game. Notable players during the second quarter include Aidan Ruckh, 23; and Riley Smith, 5.

 

After half-time, the Raiders entered into the third quarter of the game with Lake Heffington scoring a touchdown to bring the score up to 14-7. With a lead in hand, the Raiders defended their endzone to successfully stop Creekview from scoring during that time. 

 

As the game progressed, the Raiders entered into the fourth quarter. Creekview scored a touchdown to once again tie the game 14-14. With a tied-up score, the Raiders battled, which resulted in another touchdown scored by Zach Shirley, 18. Shirley’s touchdown gave the Raiders a 21-14 lead in the game. At the end of the fourth quarter, Creekview scored a touchdown, resulting in the final tied score of 21-21. 

 

Many new faces were added to the lineup this year, including Aidan Ruckh, 23; Mason Lawson, 33; and Zach Shirley, 18. With many new faces, upcoming seniors and juniors held their positions on the lineup and have begun to lead the team. Some of these seniors and juniors include Patrick Corrigan, 7; Elisha Samples, 77; Riley Smith, 5; Bentley Wheeler, 11; Dylan Lyerly, 99; and Chris Herock, 55.

 

With a great game played by both the defense and offense, the upcoming fall football season should be one of excitement and success.
