Raider Girls Varsity Basketball Dominated Chestatee 71-38
The girl’s varsity basketball team had a game on Thursday, Nov. 11 at 6 pm in the Raider Arena. They played against Chestatee. Coach Brad Kudlas stated that he was “excited for the girls to have a chance to play against somebody other than themselves.” The Raider girls ended up winning 71-38.
The first half was a little slow, and the score was 13 Raiders and 16 War Eagles. The Raiders were losing, but they still had faith they would win.
In the second half of the game, the Raiders made a comeback scoring 26-15. Junior Erin Whalen #24 made a two-pointer to take the lead.
In the third quarter, the Raiders were still in the lead, 44-30. The girls exhibited strong teamwork skills, and they had a good offense and defense.
The fourth quarter was eventful, sophomore Kamryn Gardner #10 made a three-pointer at the last minute, and sophomore Josie Cheatham #25 made a three-pointer in the last second of the game. The Raiders took the win, beating the War Eagles 71-38.
“The first half was a little slow,” Coach Kudlas said after the game. “We were a little nervous. This scrimmage was the first real game and the first time putting on the uniform and playing in front of fans. But we settled down in the second half and played really well.”
“We need to improve on less turnover a little bit more on the defensive end,” he continued, “So there are still some things that are just not clicking, and we have some miss rates and things like that, that we’re going to work on.” Overall, the Raiders had great teamwork and communication skills while they were out on the court. The next game will be on Dec. 1 in the Raider Arena against Lumpkin.
