With Christmas right around the corner, many families are working to find new holiday experiences and traditions to enjoy together. Forsyth and Dawson County seem very small, and to many living there, boring and uneventful, but multiple local upcoming events will help families keep busy this holiday season.

Lake Lanier Islands hosts a light show from Nov. 24 through Jan. 5 from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. nightly, then on weekends through Feb. 27. “Lakeside Lights Spectacular” on Lake Lanier is a walk-through light show with tons of color, motion and synced Christmas music. “Santa’s Tiki Bar” is located at the beginning and the end of the light show, serving adult beverages, popcorn and many sweet treats. The “Tipsy Elf Bar” will be the refill station placed midway through the show for all cocktail, hot cocoa and dessert needs. Prices vary. Click here for more information.

The “License to Chill Snow Island” will also be open during the “Lakeside Lights Spectacular” with many exciting activities and tasty treats. “Blizzard Mountain Snow Tubing,” one of North America’s longest snow tubing rides at 575 feet long, is an adrenaline-boosting snow slide that is sure to get your heart racing. Cool off in “Snowball Alley” where friends and families can enjoy playing in the snow. Prices range from $39.99 to $54.99 for an all-day/all-access pass to the park. Prices differ depending on the activities. Visit the amusement park rides, the bumper cars and the carousel! It is fun for everyone in the family!

Though it has already passed, a Christmas nativity play was put on at WildeWood Farm from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 10 through 12. It was a family-friendly event that cost $10 at the door or $15 per family. WildeWood Farm worked to showcase the true meaning and story of Christmas. The audience saw Mary, Joseph, Shepherds, the Wiseman and actual sheep. The Christmas nativity play was an event for the whole family to enjoy. Not only for the family, but to bring friends to, and learn more about the Christmas story. Multiple churches in the community also put on these plays, so watch one there if you missed this one.
