On Thursday, Jan. 27, there was a JV girls soccer game at Dawson, and North won 5-1. They scored more goals this season than last season.

The goalie was out with Covid-19, so newcomers had to fill in. Those newcomers were junior Gracie Earndhaert and sophomore Heidi Tinsley, and they did a great job as goalies. The players who scored a goal were freshmen Madlyn Britt, Stephanie Melchor, Katie Blimline and Emerson Streit. In the first half of the game, North played well. The score was 2-1. Melchor and Britt scored the first two goals.

Sophomore Ella Copp is one of the captains for the girls JV Soccer team with junior Sarah Treusch and Britt. Copp’s favorite thing about soccer is “how it brings people together and allows them to let go of stress.” She also stated that her favorite memory of playing soccer was when she “was little” and “would play it on the beach.” Copp says that being captain means, “I can support and lead my team.”

There was an additional soccer game on Monday, Jan. 31. North faced off against Forsyth Central, and it was a home game. The score was 0-0.
