Kirshnik Khari Ball, also known as Takeoff, was born June 18,  1994 and died Nov.  1, 2022. He was born and raised in Lawrenceville, Ga. with his uncle, Quavious (Quavo) Keyate Marshall, and his cousin, Kiari (Offset) Kendrell Cephus. Takeoff was the third member in the Rap group, Migos, formed in 2011. On Nov. 1, 2022 a shootout happened at a party in Houston, Texas. His manager said that a stray bullet hit him.

The incident was a surprise to many including celebrities and students here at North. JuniorJanis Parry explained, “It’s really unfortunate Takeoff died really young, it’s really ridiculous the murder  was started by the Migos themselves now we have no more Migos.”   another student said “he was really unproblematic.” 

Takeoff was a talented and influential rapper to the world. Rapper, Drake reacted to his death by posting about how he feels, saying “I got the best memories of all of us seeing the world together and bringing light to every city we touch. That’s what I’ll focus on now, rest easy spaceman Take.” 

Maniyma, a junior at North, reacted to the incident a little differently than others, that is sadly a reality. “Personally I’m not surprised when rappers die because most are associated with dangerous things that get you killed.”   This is true in the hip hop community  from rapper and Actor Tuppac Shakur who died when he was 25 years old by a gun, to XXXTentacion who was new in the rap industry when he died in June 18,2018 he got shot in Deerfield, Florida and most recently to PnB rock who died earlier this year.  Takeoff will be remembered in migos  album called “Culture ” in 2017 which they won 2 grammys for and that’s been streamed 1.5 billion times. In 2021 it is said that former President Barack Obama put “Straightenin” on his summer playlist. Takeoff was only 28 years old when he died and the world will miss him, there is so much he could have done and his life was taken away from him.
