Spotlight: Senior Lacrosse Player Katie Musulman
On Wednesday, April 12, senior lacrosse player Katie Musulman broke the North Forsyth school record for saves at the goal. Musulman is the team’s goalie and now an NFHS record holder.
While the game against Mill Creek High School was a loss for the girls lacrosse team, Musulman’s record break boosted the morale among the players.
Down in points against Mill Creek, the girls lacrosse team was disappointed and energy was low. Musulman, however, knew that soon the mood would change as the record score was always in the back of her mind.
“Leading up to it, I was counting down the shots and the saves. We lost the game but all my teammates and friends and family came up to me with a big sign. The whole moment changed from sad to happy,”said Musulman.
It was a celebration that continued on to Musulman’s signing day where she committed to play at the next level in front of her friends and family. “I got to sign in front of my teammates and with Peyton who plays on the team too and then we went to a lunch afterwards” said Musulman.
Musulman has committed to play NAIA lacrosse at Reinhardt University for the 2023-24 season. When asked what she is most looking forward to, she said “new experiences, and the fact that being a part of a higher team is going to be very different” and it “will be very good for being involved.” Musulman explained that since freshman year can be overwhelming, having teammates to lean on will make it easier.
After graduation and summer, Katie Musulman will be moving to Waleska, Georgia and studying at Reinhardt University. She will begin playing lacrosse there for the spring season of her freshman year. Hopefully she will break some records there as well.
Best of luck to Katie in her first college season!
