This past week, Sep. 11 through Sep. 15, was homecoming week, the theme was Enchanted Forest. There were different themes throughout the week leading up to homecoming night. Monday was Adam Sandler day, Tuesday was sports day, Wednesday was class colors, Thursday was Hawaiian-themed and Friday was Wild West.
The homecoming nominees attended a rehearsal for the football game. On Friday, they walked out onto the field with their escorts and announced the winners for king and queen, along with the princesses.
The princesses who won; freshman Ansley Estle, sophomore Camdyn Ruper, junior Madelynn Britt, seniors Ava Droze and Brayden Turner. The king and queen winners were Seth Daugherty and Emma Wheeler.
The nominees for freshman were Gabriella Agri, Leila Dodd, Ansley Estle and Kayla Lenyszyn.
Sophomore nominees were Camdyn Rupert, Emma Bailey, Jayden Dolan and Caitlyn Reynolds.
Heaven Small, Mia Ovalle, Heidi Nabulski and Madelynn Britt were nominated for the junior homecoming court.
Finally, the senior homecoming court nominees were Ava Droze, Anna Miles, Jashiya Spencer and Emma Wheeler. The boys nominated were Jaxxon Otteson, Chase Copeland, Brayden Turner and Seth Daugherty.
Kaylay Lenyszyn, one of the nominees for freshman, said she “[has] always wanted to be nominated since middle school.” Lenyszyn also wanted the experience.
Sophomore, Jayden Dolan, was surprised when she found out she was nominated. “[She] wanted to be nominated [her] freshman year, but was not” so when Dolan found out, she was also excited.
Heaven Small was “shocked but excited” when she found out about being nominated.
Anna Miles was one senior nominee who was “surprised and also excited” when she found out she was nominated. Ava Droze was another senior nominee and was “very happy to be nominated.” Both Miles and Droze will carry this memory out of high school.
Senior Seth Daugherty did not choose to be nominated, “a friend of [his] chose a bad picture and put [his] name on it and it just grew from there.” Another senior nominee was Jaxxon Otteson. He was “proud that people wanted to see [him] represent his class.”
Overall, Homecoming Week was a memorable and exciting time at North Forsyth High school, filled with fun themes and the anticipation of the crowning moment. From Adam Sandler Monday to Wild West Friday, students showcased their creativity and school spirit throughout the week.
