Fall Fails and Pumpkin Tales

Leaves falling and waiting to be raked up.

Ah, fall, the season of leafy wonder and pumpkin-spiced everything. As summer bids its adieu, we welcome the glorious season of fall with open arms, and for a good reason. After all, who needs the relentless sunshine and beach days when you can have crisp air and endless raking chores?

First and foremost, let’s talk about fashion. Fall gives us the chance to break out our collection of flannel shirts, oversized sweaters and those stylish yet supremely uncomfortable boots. Who cares if we look like scarecrows on a runway? We are making a statement—a statement that says, “I may be drowning in layers, but at least I’m seasonally fashionable and comfortable.”

Plus let’s not forget the intoxicating aroma of pumpkin spice that wafts through the air. It’s the siren song of autumn, luring us into overpriced coffee shops to spend our hard-earned money on beverages that taste like a candle store.

Fall also brings out our inner hunter-gatherer. Every weekend is a new expedition, with the quest for the perfect apple, the ideal pumpkin and the biggest bag of Halloween candy. Sure, you might have to wrestle a toddler for the last bag of candy corn, but isn’t that what the spirit of competition is all about?

Lastly, there’s the simple joy of the falling leaves. Who doesn’t enjoy the sensation of leaves getting trapped in your shoes or clogging your gutters? It’s like nature’s way of saying, “Here’s a little extra yard work for you!”

In conclusion, fall is undoubtedly the best season. It’s a time of fashion dilemmas, culinary absurdities, intense scavenger hunts for seasonal produce and leaves that refuse to cooperate with your raking efforts. So, as we savor the cool breezes and accept the impending winter hibernation, let’s remember that there’s no better way to welcome the cold than with a dose of humor and a pumpkin-spiced everything in hand.

Kinley Waltman, Editor-in-Chief
Heyo! My name is Kinley, and I am a junior this year. This is my third year in journalism. I am excited to say I am the Editor and Chief of journalism this year. I enjoy skateboarding and most likely outside of school I am playing with my cat, Kristof. He is such a cuddle bug. I also enjoy watching shows/movies with my mom; our favorite genre would have to be horror or mystery. My goal for this year is to become an advanced writer. I’m very excited for the Lit Mag this school year! Have a bad day.
