I turn on the country radio
And all I hear is fake country that doesn’t flow
I want to hear real country songs
Like the days of the outlaws
My parents raised me on the legends
From the Man in Black to the Possum’ I fell in love in seconds
From Waylon’s blues to Party Time Hank’ they always take me back
The steel guitar and love for country is what today’s music lacks
Back in the 80’s’ they had it made
To live back then’ oh so much I would trade
To be able to experience George Jones and Hank Jr’ would be insane
To learn and experience them’ there would be so much knowledge to gain
Merle Haggard once sang about how Mamma Tried
But nowadays all people sing about is how they cried
It seems Country music is steering out of control
I miss the days when singers would sing from their soul
Now’ not all of today’s Country is bad
Like how Zach Bryan sings about the great mother he had
And how Morgan Wallen is putting country music at the top
But man’ a whole lot of country nowadays sounds like pop
I wish we could bring back old country music
Because today’s country is very punic
While there are times when the genre glows
I wish they still played country music on country radio
