As a senior writing for the Raider Wire, I have learned so much that I will be forever grateful for. Although I could not be any happier to graduate and this was unfortunately my only year in Journalism, this class will undoubtedly be difficult to leave. I have met so many amazing people, made so many lasting friendships, and discovered a passion I intend to carry into college with my major.
When writing an article like this, it’s hard to steer it away from sounding like a goodbye letter. Truly, that’s what it is: a goodbye to Journalism, to the Raider Wire, to all of my favorite teachers and to North Forsyth High School entirely.
Over the three years that I’ve attended North Forsyth, I’ve been given several opportunities that I don’t believe I would’ve gotten otherwise. I became a member of various honor societies and clubs within the past three years and was fortunate enough to be named officer in several of them.
However, there are several things more important than extracurriculars that I’ve gotten out of my time at North. I met some of my best friends. I also learned (although fairly recently) that perfection is not everything. If I could give any advice to underclassmen and future Raiders, it would be to let yourself mess up sometimes. A perfect GPA is not worth the sacrifice of your well-being, and sometimes it’s okay to just have fun and be a teenager.
Although college graduation is another four long years away, I have a feeling it’s going to fly by just as quickly. I can only hope that in those four years, I will learn half as much as I did from my experience as a high school student.
The future is scary–there’s no denying that. But it’s also exciting, promising, inevitable. I may be saying goodbye to North Forsyth’s Journalism class, but I can’t wait to have several more that are just as beneficial and leave just as lasting of an impression.
Peace out Girl Scouts!!!!
