Each grade was awarded a student of the month. These four students have been nominated by their peers and teachers, for being kind, cool, funny and overall great. They all are unique in their own way, but all of them truly represent what it means to be a Raider.
Bringing a smile to everyone near her, Katie Rowland was nominated as senior student of the month. Nominated by her peers, Rowland is said to be kind and funny. One of her hobbies include photography. She is in her third year of AP Photography, and is planning on majoring in the photography field and advertising products using her photography. Her favorite things include, horror movies, her dad’s food and listening to Radiohead. Her favorite concert was a Noah Khan concert that she went to last year. After school she works from five to nine at Target. Rowland’s family, friends and future are the most important values. Her dream place to visit is Japan. The toughest part of school for Rowland is to be motivated to wake up everyday and go to school. One word to describe Rowland is fluid, she is very flexible in who she is. Rowland is a wonderful student, and even better friend. Her ambitions, motivations and values make her who she is.
Our junior student of the month is Madeline Forsyth. Nominated by her peers and teachers, Forsyth is nothing but warm-hearted and kind. Her hobbies include playing clarinet and hiking. She likes to watch movies, specifically old black and white movies. She likes listening to jazz, classical music, 80’s and 70’s rock. If she weren’t in school or at home she would like to be at Sawnee mountain, because she went there a lot to hike while growing up. The most important things to Forsyth are her family, friends, her dog, tradition and heritage. Her dream place to visit in Scotland. Forsyth is many things, she’s patriotic, she’s family orientated, she’s loving, she’s kind, she’s true to her value and her heritage. She is all these traits and even more. Being around Forsyth makes you feel nothing but happy.
Ava Rippe, junior student of the month, cannot be described as boring. Being in so many different clubs and after school activities truly describes her well-roundedness. When asked about her hobbies Rippe replied“I am geeky.” She loves to write, specifically poetry and specializes in slam poetry. She likes to draw and “obviously” loves talking. She loves animals and she even works at a kennel. She loves fashion and can always be found wearing colorful and interesting clothing, except when she has to wear scrubs for healthcare. When asked how “loud, optimistic and just happy.” Certainly everyone can agree that Rippe makes Raider Nation more cheerful.
Last but certainly not least, the newest addition to Raider Nation is freshman Emma Thomas. Her personality and strong work-ethic which allows her to do better, be better and get better is what nominated her for being student of the month for freshmans. Her hobbies include playing the piano, working out and taking time for herself. She loves to ski, go on vacation and eat. Her favorite movie is “Pirates of the Caribbean” and her favorite book is one written by Alan Grantz. She likes to go on trails, specifically the Cherokee trail. Thomas calls herself an “overthinker.” She can be described as peaceful, overthinking, smart, kind and many more words, but one thing that is certain about Thomas is that she is full of personality and life.
In the end, we can certainly agree that these four students truly make NFHS proud. They strive to make the Raider Nation a better place, these four deserve much more recognition than they think they do. Raider Nation thanks these four for being wonderful friends, students and people.
