Last night, North’s volleyball team won their home game against South after three sets. The team has been working hard to prepare for this game, especially focusing on staying organized and determined as South tests their strength.
One of their coaches, Kaylee Crumley, assured that it would be an easy win, and she was right. But the game wasn’t without its challenges. There were many times when players had to dive to save the ball, one notable moment being when senior Hannah Hagan, libero, made an impressive save in the first set.
Other players did just as well, like sophomore, Jayda Reece, making an amazing downside hit in the first set and senior, Kylie McCabe, making a similarly impressive middle hit in the third set.
Crumley comments on the team dynamic: “We have a well-rounded team.” Being able to work together is what makes a team, so having a good dynamic is important. Crumley assures that the seniors are taking on the role of leading the team and that the underclassmen are eager to learn and compete. “We’re continuing to get better and learn how each other play, and I think it’s going in an upward direction,” says Hagan.
The Raiders look forward to continuing to grow the chemistry between them so that they can work together more successfully for predictably tougher games like Senior Night at Hill Grove.
“I think it’ll be a good leadway into state playoffs,” says Hagan. State playoffs will be in late October.
There are only three region matches left, and the Raiders stand undefeated. “A whole lot of teams want to take down North just because of the competitiveness that our program has had,” says Crumley. But the team stays determined, just as they did in this past game, to take down their opponents and future ones.
The Raiders will continue to foster chemistry within the team at the next home game, which will be on October 3.
