Darron Parry, star athlete of North Forsyth High School’s 2026 class, shares his growth and perspectives as a varsity football player and his desires for the future as an athlete.
Over the years, Parry has experienced what it means to be a good athlete and teammate. Learning from others and their experiences as athletes in past teams has not only helped him grow to be the player he is today but also the person he recognizes himself to be. Likewise, throughout the years as a football player, Parry has learned that teamwork could make or break a team, through the field during an important game or simply through regular practice.
From his many years in the field, Parry has acknowledged that one of the greatest challenges athletes face today is the normality of giving up too soon due to misfortunes in the athletic field and the inability to pick right back up, especially the ability to overcome adversity. He states, “A strength that makes me a better athlete is my ability to work hard and push through challenges until the next play.”
Parry’s career as an athlete hasn’t been so easy either. He quotes his greatest weakness as consistency and staying on track over time. However, he faces this struggle by managing his athletic responsibilities and additional activities in and outside of school and maintaining a balance in his life through his athletics and at-home duties.
These challenges as an athlete don’t stop Parry from continuing his career and further pursuing a future football career. In the next five to 10 years, he sees himself playing college football and preparing for his next steps in life as a football player.
A strength that specifically sticks out about Parry is his resilience and determination, stating, “What makes me a better athlete is my ability to work hard and push through challenges until the next day.”
In High School, Parry has been involved in track and football. Though outside of his life in sports, he likes to spend his time playing the guitar and lifting at the gym. However, he hopes to gain more offers and college interests in the next couple of months as he approaches his senior year of High School.
When asked if there was a role model that inspires him as he continues to play and improve on the field Parry mentions Odel Beckham Jr. as a person he looks up to in his athletic career, he quotes, “His determination to push through adversity is inspiring.” Quoting his resilience to be the characteristic he aspires the most as he’s faced many injuries throughout his career as a professional football player yet never giving up.
Furthermore, Parry has experienced and learned great qualities that have made him the great athlete he has become today, facing his challenges but being resilient and devoting his career to a future in football as he manages life in the athletic field as well as at home.
