This year’s softball season was full of ups and downs for our Lady Raiders. The season started out rough at first, with the girls struggling to win their games, but as the season progressed, they learned how to work together to bring in the wins.
Due to their struggle, the Lady Raiders had to work extra hard to figure out a way to win. There are many factors as to why working as a team can be difficult, including drama and figuring out the best way to approach a situation.
According to Junior, Artemis Eaton, “We started the season off with a losing record and we were not playing for each other. But, as we learned to work together and learned to not just focus on ourselves, we began to win and have fun. Having fun and working together helped turn our season around.”
Learning to work together is not the only thing needed to make a great team, it takes comradery and friendship. Our Lady Raiders spent countless hours together, growing important friendships that would help them to work together as a team. “Whether it was just cheering each other on or communicating on where we are going with the ball, we needed to focus more on our communication,” states Eaton.
The Lady Raiders put in the work to have an incredible season, showing signs of resilience and outstanding teamwork. Senior, Loren Lajoie, claims, “Looking back on this season, one specific moment that stands out is our team’s resilience. There were games where things didn’t go as planned, but seeing how we supported each other through it all really showed our strength as a team.” As the team grew closer, the number of winning games began to grow as well, “Another highlight was definitely our eight-game winning streak – those moments brought us closer and kept our spirits high. It was at those moments that I realized how lucky I am to have teammates who feel more like a family.”
This team is full of dedicated and talented young women, who put their strongest foot forward in all that they do. Confidence plays a large role in sports, especially when it comes to working as a team. Junior, Addison Walker, believes that something the team could have improved on was, “believing and knowing that we had the ability to win and can do great things together.”
These girls worked extremely hard this season. They brought in some incredible wins and learned amazing things throughout the season. They learned how to work together and they grew closer than friends, they became a family. The Lady Raiders were very fortunate to have made it to the playoffs and although they did not win, they worked hard and did not allow it to get them down. These girls are already ready to take on the next season, and they will do amazing things together.
