The Raider Wire’s car of the month for December has been decided! The car is a 2018 Ford Mustang LT Convertible owned by the Raider nation choir director Eugene Seese. Seese acquired the Mustang in February of 2023, when his 2011 Ford Focus died on the way to work one day. He got the Mustang because “ [he]was looking for something low cost, honestly. And this was used… [he] took it for a test drive, and [he]went, ‘Okay, I really like this.’”
Seese’s Mustang is a 2018 convertible LT model, with an exquisite Royal Crimson original paint job. The only time Ford ever ran the specific shade of red was in 2018. It wasn’t nearly as popular as the other colors that year, making his car a rarity to see on the road, much less at a high school.
While Seese isn’t a car person, his wife is “ a big car person. She’s more fond of the Chevys… She’s a big muscle kind of girl, and she really likes those older cars.”
He said that his wife owned a Camaro for several years and loved the feel of driving a muscle car. He also said, “without explicitly stating that she got on a straightaway and went very fast, there was the implication that she put it through its paces.”
He bought the Mustang last year, and it has supplied ample power and looks since then. He has had no issues with it, pushing it past one hundred thousand miles. He loves it as his daily driver, as it garners him attention on and off campus. When asked about racing it himself, he said, “[he’s] not that kind of person, but it’s fun to get the attention and to know that if [he] really wanted to, [he]could smoke them.”
Although Seese loved his previous car, he has come to cherish the Mustang that he now has going on many outings with the top down and his hair blowing in the wind. Seese has made many memories with the car, and he’ll make many more, garnering attention from car enthusiasts and students alike.
