“Peter and the Starcatcher “ is a Tony-Winning play about how an orphaned boy becomes the legendary Peter Pan. The play was produced last week and directed by Collens Martin, starring Lindsay Looney as Peter (boy) and Rylan Stewart as Molly Aster.
The play was captivating and never lost the audience’s attention. Actors did a wonderful job, nailing the accent. They were also able to absorb the time period, very effectively. Which is amazing since the play is located in Britain, more difficult to do so. Audience’s sensory experience of the play was enhanced through the impressive sound effects. After the play the cast received positive feedback from the audience.
The cast and crew were amazingly prepped. They had wonderful rehearsals and had very good communication. Most of the cast agreed upon the rehearsals being very stress-free. William Hagan, the right-hand man to Black Stash (the antagonist), said “the rehearsals are very fun,” and explained how Martin worked a lot with the crew and cast for the play to be run smoothly.
The tech crew was run by sophomore, Hannah Cross. She works with the sound, lights, costume designers, project managers, set crew and Martin to help “run the show.” She makes sure designs get approved by Martin. Overall Cross runs the entire student part of the tech crew.
Most of the rehearsals were in class until the past two weeks. The cast are all from the advanced drama class, and have been working on the play ever since their auditions in October. The school has a booster club, which helps sell concessions and tickets and producing the play
Although the play had slight hiccups, the actors and crew have wonderfully pulled it off. Their immense effort and dedication served them well in the end. Peter and the Starcatcher was an amazing theatrical production, and NFHS cannot wait to see how many more wonderful plays will be produced.
