The Georgia Tech’s Yellow Jackets and Virginia Tech’s Hokies continued their ongoing football series by going toe-to-toe last Saturday at 3:30 p.m. to keep the 35 years of rivalry going!
The Yellow Jackets and the Hokies have been continuing this Atlantic Coast Conference football series since 1990. Since then, they have been up against each other 20 more times. The Yellow Jackets stay in the lead with 12 wins, while the Hokies have eight.
The last game took place on Oct. 11 in the Bobby Dodd Stadium at Hyundai Field in Atlanta, Ga. This marks the 21st time these two teams have been up against each other. The Yellow Jackets take the cake once again by winning 35-20.
The Yellow Jackets started out strong, scoring a touchdown in the first minute of the game. That touchdown was scored by the star quarterback Hayness King who went on to score two other touchdowns after that. One of those touchdowns was a 9-yard pass from the wide receiver, Malik Rutherford, then rushing 60 yards. It was a strong performance from King.
They then went into halftime with a good lead, 7-21. The Yellow Jackets scored three out of four touchdowns by rushing and one touchdown by passing.
The Yellow Jackets’ kicker, Aidan Birr, had the best game with absolutely no misses. He had a 30-yard field goal, a 25-yard field goal and got every two-point conversion.
This is the best year the Yellow Jackets have had in over 12 years! They have a 6-0 winning score ranking them 12th in the AP poll. However, the Hokies scored more points than anticipated. The Hokies have only won two out of their six games this season, but they have managed to score a lot of points this game. Kyron Drones scored most of the Hokies points by passing.
