On Friday, Jan.15, North Forsyth’s swim team participated in a meet at the Cumming Aquatic Center. They faced off against West and Central Forsyth. North’s girls placed first and North’s boys placed second. Great effort was shown from every team.

Previously, on Jan. 9, North’s swim team participated in a meet against Lambert, West, Loganville and Northgate. Northplaced third overall, Lambert placed first, and  West trailed closely placing second. In order to improve and grow between meets, North’s team has put in great effort into practices. They worked to improve their times and abilities so that they could rise to the top. This extra work proved beneficial as they were able to come in first place despite pressure from the other teams.

Gracie Runion was the swimmer of the meet. She got her first individual state cut in the 50 freestyle.

“The team has improved tremendously over the course of the season. Almost every swimmer has dropped time in at least one event,” head coach Tyler Martin commented. “The team has put in the hard work in training this year. Now, it’s time to polish it up and see what we have at the county and state championship.”

Abby Byers thinks that overall the team did well at the meet. “I think I did well on dropping some time and becoming faster in some places,” she said.

It’s clear that the team works well together and strives to support each other and improve as a single unit. “The team has grown closer together over the year. (By) coming to practice, supporting each other, all that,” Byers said.

On Saturday, Jan. 23, the team will go on to the county and state championships, where they will compete and showcase their abilities for the final time of the 2020-2021 swim season. We look forward to supporting our Raiders as they go on to compete.
