Flashback to Fearless
Every little girl listened to Taylor Swift. We knew every lyric to every song, and we were not afraid to sing as loud as our lungs allowed. Then, we grew up; we did not jam out to Taylor anymore. We listened to rap and pop and country… but not Taylor. Let us change that. Let us go back to a time when there was no stress, boys had cooties, and no one cared about what other people thought. Let us go back to Fearless.
So, just how popular was Fearless? The album was the number one album for eleven weeks on the Billboard charts, and it also remained in the Top 10 of the Billboard 200 in its first nineteen weeks. Fearless also claimed victory as the number one album of the year at the 2010 Grammys.
Fearless has thirteen songs on the track. Songs such as “Fearless”, “Love Story”, and “You Belong With Me” are about currently being in love, or falling in love with someone. On the other hand, songs like “Tell Me Why”, “White Horse”, and “You’re Not Sorry” are about the opposite. These songs are about anger towards guys that have broken Taylor’s heart. “The Best Day”, however, is not about falling for a guy whatsoever. This song is about Taylor and her mom’s strong relationship and love for each other.
All in all, the Fearless album by Taylor Swift was one of the most listened-to albums of 2008 and years after. Taylor’s words may not have meant so much to us when we were younger, but now they do. We are old enough now that we can relate to the messages of these songs on the album and will be able to understand the full meaning of the lyrics. Go and flash back to Fearless, and you’ll have a whole new take on all of these love/anti-love songs. Which one is your favorite? Put on your headphones, and let these songs sink in.
