President Obama delivers a speech to the American people concerning the government shutdown on October 1st, largely blaming the Republicans
On September 30, the United States Government shut down due to the inability of the House and Senate to agree on a funding bill. Republicans wish to defund Obamacare, while Democrats will not agree to anything unless the government is reopened and the borrowing limit is increased. President Obama delivered a speech on October 1st concerning the shutdown, laying the blame squarely at the feet of the Republicans. What’s more, the deadline to raise the debt ceiling is fast approaching with both Republicans and Democrats digging in to their respective sides. At the moment, it seems that neither side plans to give in to the others demands.
