NFHS Named AP Honor School

Georgia State School Superintendent Richard Woods recently named Advanced Placement (AP) Honor Schools. The GADOE named the 2015 AP Honor Schools based on the results of 2014 AP courses and exams. NFHS has been recognized in four categories: AP Merit, AP STEM, AP STEM Achievement, and AP Humanities Honor.

On February 18, the State School Superintendent, Richard Woods, named North Forsyth High School one of 609 Advanced Placement Honor Schools.  The Georgia Department of Education presented the award in six categories: AP Challenge Schools, AP Access and Support Schools, AP Merit Schools, AP Stem Schools, AP STEM Achievement Schools, and AP Humanities Schools.  Superintendent Woods awarded NFHS in the latter four categories.

According to the GADOE:

  • AP Merit Schoolsare schools with at least 20 percent of the student population taking AP exams and at least 50 percent of all AP exams earning scores of 3 or higher.
  • AP STEM Schoolsare schools with students testing in at least two AP math courses and two AP science courses.
  • AP STEM Achievement Schoolsare schools with students testing in at least two AP math courses and two AP science courses and at least 40 percent of the exam scores on AP math and AP science exams earning scores of 3 or higher.
  • AP Humanities Schoolsare schools with students testing in all of the following AP courses: at least one ELA course, two social science courses, one fine arts course and one world language course.
