The Warmth of Another

I feel alone.

Surrounded by friends who love me

With a passion that glows

As bright as his forest green eyes

When his face lights up in laughter.

Yet I can’t help but feel

As though I am a lone weed

In a meadow abundant with violets

As vibrant as my feelings for him.

For he is the glistening ocean,

A vast expanse of unimaginable beauty

While I am a grain of sand

Insignificant in his presence.

And though I long for his love,

To surround me like an autumn mist,

Lose myself in the comfort of his arms

Heal my heartache with his touch.

He has found the warmth of another,

Someone to call his own,

Leaving me to feel cold

And alone.
