Any self-proclaimed procrastinator is familiar with the routine of waiting last minute to complete something, even after having months to prepare, and Halloween is not an exception to this pattern. If you are one of these previously mentioned procrastinators, chances are you have not planned your costume for the upcoming spooky season. In order to help you make it to your Halloween plans in the spirit, here is a compilation of easy, last minute, DIY costumes that are sure to get heads turning, or at least a few strange looks.

The first Halloween costume DIY is to be “Tired”. To achieve this look all you have to do is put on a pair of pajamas and find yourself some comfy slippers to wear for the night. Some optional additions to this would be to carry around a pillow or put on a robe to tie together the costume and also give you an extra layer of warmth on that cold October night. Now if someone asks you what you are this Halloween you can reply with “tired” and proceed to lie down wherever you are and pretend to sleep.

The next last minute costume requires slightly more effort and the supplies include: an old sheet and scissors. If this is already too much, feel free to continue onto the next costume. To begin making the classic ghost costume, first grab a pair of scissors and an old sheet that you do not mind cutting. Once you have both of these items, you can either put the sheet over your head and trace circles where your eyes would go, and then cut the circles out, or you can just cut out two holes in the sheet and hope for the best, up to you. The next step is self explanatory, just put the sheet over your head and align your eyes with the holes. You are now ghost!

The third costume to make for Halloween is to be a mime. This can be put together from clothing items that you may already have in your closet, which is what makes it so convenient. All you need is a black and white striped shirt and black pants. If you do not have a black and white striped shirt already, an alternative is to get a white shirt and either paint black stripes on or make stripes out of black tape. For the bottoms, any dark pants would work, like black jeans or leggings. Finally, the most important part, try to talk as little as possible and do mime tricks so that people know who you are. An example of some mime tricks are acting like you are in an invisible box, lassoing people in, or going down a fake set of stairs.

Now, you can go have fun the 31st without being the odd one having no costume, and you can be one of these convenient, affordable characters!
