Seven Year Comic Comes to a Touching Conclusion
May 23, 2016
April 13, 2009, marked the beginning of the comic called Homestuck and on the seventh anniversary of the comic (April 13, 2016) the final act of the comic finished, bringing the entire comic to a close, leaving sad and nostalgic fans in its wake. Whether it was cosplaying, re-reading the comic, or reminiscing about the good times all fans were celebrating and crying; the more important thing is that they were doing it together. Homestuck brought together many fans worldwide and easily took over the convention centers. The comic itself is a wonderful thing, and while it ended the fanbase is still doing well and causing good even though, to the average person, the throngs of fans seem almost cult like.
The final update of Homestuck came out at 12:05 a.m. and by 12:06 social media was blowing up with the tags #finalupdate and #homestuckisover, much of 4/13 was overtaken by nostalgic fans to the point of it being unavoidable to see at least something related to the fan base. Fans everywhere were sharing the opinions and reactions to the ending of the comic and plenty of tears were shed as they typed out messages to thank Andrew Hussie, the creator of the Homestuck, for making all of their memories possible. Aside from those two tags people were posting under the #homestuckbeginnings tag to share all of the laughs and tears that there have been over the course of the fanbase and all the memories left throughout the fandom.
While Homestuck is over the fans have made the point that they are here to stay. The seven year comic has closed off new material, but thankfully, the Homestuck kids have finally been given their happy ending. So, while the comic is over the fans can expect more content to come; Paradox Space is still up and running along with the Hivebent game that is set to come out this year or next.
