Okay?
October 25, 2016
I’m alone when I’m back home.
It’s time for a change
A subtle change.
I’m through with my miserable youth.
…………………………………………………………
The girls are crying on the corner because the boys all left
He’s convinced the blonde by the bar
She just gave him a wink
“It’s getting late and we don’t have much to lose.”
Her face went red as the words left his tongue
Us teenage kids were getting pissed.
He pins her against the wall
Tells her she’s beautiful
That boy…he’s a drifter
Tomorrow he will be far away
……………………………….
I look up and see the stars
Look down at speeding cars
Think of my family
How they’ll remember me
I see your face
Breathe deep and hesitate
I hear the words you’d say
If you were here with me
“You don’t wanna die tonight. Take one more breath and clear your head.”
…………………………………………………………………………….
The T.V. talks at me
Apocalyptically
Fosters the fear in me
Somehow I hear your plea
Feels like you’re here with me
“Every moment’s relevant.”
Bittersweet and delicate”
Tomorrow may not come again.”
It’s just a tough thing for us humans to admit
All the crazies talk about the world and how it’s gonna end
I sit worried sick because I’m starting to believe them
I’ll get used to getting used
Sometimes I feel as if I’m going mad when I get a taste of saccharine on my lips.
My closest friends:
I do not think I would be here if not for them
We’ve got so much to prove
Cause it’s time to move on
I flashback to the night in your parent’s yard, when we drank too much and talked about God
You’re not here anymore
I think I’m just beginning to understand that you have the upper hand
I hear your voice
You’re calling out
“We cross alone. We’re thinking of those we left back home. So follow the lines, and I’ll be your guide.”
You’re my backbone
All we have is what’s left today
Hearts so pure in this broken place
We are who we are
We’re searching for our saving grace
What can I do to make you stay?
We won’t fade away
We’ll find peace while others change
All the things that I have running through my mind
We’re all [just] trying to find color in this black and white world
Tell me everything will be alright
Give me the strength to know everyone feels broken sometimes
“Just wait your turn”
“Always try to learn to love the ones that don’t show love in return”
“Don’t be afraid to close your eyes. Cause the truth is, darling, that everything will be alright.”
Okay?
