Sports at NFHS for October

New sporting events at NFHS have been arising since fall started. 

 

  • The boy’s and girl’s soccer parent meeting starts at 6:30 in the café on Oct.13.
  • Girl’s varsity softball game against Mill Creek High School starts at 4 p.m. on Oct. 13 (if necessary, the third game will be held on Oct. 14 at NFHS).
  • Girl’s varsity flag football game against East Forsyth High School is on Oct. 14.
  • Boy’s junior varsity football and girl’s junior varsity flag football game is on Oct. 14.
  • The boy’s varsity football game against Lambert is on Oct. 15. It kicks off at 7:30 p.m. and the tickets are $8.
  • The boy’s varsity football game against Lambert High School is on Oct. 15. 
  • The fall season for the boy’s and girl’s varsity cross country teams starts on Oct. 16.
  • The Gymnastics meet is on Oct.19, but gymnastics doesn’t start until 2022.
  • Girl’s varsity flag football game against Denmark High School is on Oct. 21.
  • Girl’s flag football game against Lambert High School is on Oct. 28.
  • Boy’s varsity football is on Oct. 29 against South.
  • The boy’s varsity football game against Gainesville High School is on Nov. 5.
  • Boy’s varsity basketball is from Nov. 11 to Feb. 8.

 

Freshman Zacky Esguerra is a part of the Esports club and is in the “Super Smash Bros.” league. He is a sub for varsity which means he is a part of the junior varsity team. Esguerra spoke about “wanting to get to the state championship.” These are the days of the week for the Esports games: “League of Legends” games take place on Tuesdays, “Super Smash Bros.” games are on Wednesdays and “Madden” games take place on Thursdays.

 

Junior varsity and varsity boy’s basketball tryouts are on Oct. 25-26. It’s going to be in the Raider Arena and Auxiliary Gym. Students must have an updated physical.

 

Sophomore Ian Ian Vinsion is on the cross country team. Vinsion spoke about his goals. He “wants to make it to state and the 5k,” but if he doesn’t, “it’s fine.” 

 

Vinsion is competing against a few high schools around the country and competed on Oct.16.

 

North beat West 30-27 on Oct.1. North won against Central 23-0 on Oct.8 for homecoming week.
