The case of Lindsay Clancy
Lindsay Clancy is a 32-year-old mother who lives in Massachusetts, she is married to Patrick Clancy. She had 3 kids, the oldest Cora, who was 5-years-old, Dawson who was 3-years-old and her youngest son, Callan who was 8 months old.
Lindsay was accused of murdering her two kids, Cora and Dawson on Jan. 24 and attempting to kill her 8-month-old but later died in the hospital 3 days later. Lindsay then tried taking her own life but failed by jumping out of a second-story window, her husband reportedly left home for 25 minutes and then came home to see the scene in his home.
Lindsay was going through postpartum psychosis which is a mental illness that affects women a few weeks after they give birth, they go through hallucinations, mood swings and behavior changes. 1 in 500 mothers go through it.
Lindsay’s husband asked People magazine to forgive her. He went on to say, “I want to ask all of you that you find it deep within yourselves to forgive Lindsay, as I have, the real Lindsay was caring towards everyone, me, our kids, family, friends and her patients. The very fibers of her soul are loving. All I wish for her now is that she can somehow find peace.”
Lindsay is currently charged with two counts of homicide, three counts of strangulation and three counts of assault and battery. On Feb. 3rd Clancy’s attorney said that she was overmedicated with the prescription medicine that she used to help with her depression. Seroquel is an antipsychotic medicine, Sertraline which is another antidepressant, and Benzodiazepine helps with insomnia, anxiety and seizures. It was in her system when she committed murder and tried to commit suicide. She is reportedly still in the hospital able to move and verbally communicate. She is scheduled to appear in court via Zoom from the hospital.
