Rumors of a romance between singer Taylor Swift and NFL player Travis Kelce have been on the rise, especially after Swift’s second appearance at one of Kelce’s games. On Sunday, Oct. 2, Swift was seen cheating alongside Kelce’s mother at the Kansas City Chiefs game against the New York Jets.
Both of them are newly single, Swift from her six-year relationship with Joe Alywn and Kelce from his five-year relationship with Kayla Nicole. So, it was to their fans’ surprise that after a slow start to their relationship, things appear to be picking up in the media light.
Initially, rumors of a romantic relationship between Swift and Kelce circulated online over the summer, with mixed opinions from both of their fans. Some fans are excited about the match and eager to see where their relationship may go. On the other hand, some of Kelce’s fans are upset that Swift brings an unwanted distraction to his career.
Kelce attempted to shoot his shot with Swift during her Eras Tour when she sang at Arrowhead Stadium in early July. On his podcast, “New Heights,” in which he talks with his brother about football among other things, Kelce mentioned that he attempted to give Swift a friendship bracelet with his number on it. When his brother, Jason Kelce, who plays Center for the Philadelphia Eagles, asked whether he was referring to his player number, 87, or his phone number, Kelce quipped, “You know which one.”
After Swift’s first appearance at a Chiefs game, Kelce commented on his podcast, “She looked amazing. Everybody was talking about her.” Despite his compliments, he and his brother continue to keep their hints about the relationship vague.
The recent exposure of Kelce and Swift’s relationship has taken a toll on both of them. Swift has undoubtedly dealt with her fair share of overbearing media, but Kelce expressed, “I’ve noticed a few things…paparazzi outside my house.” He and his brother then proceeded to determine the clear identifying factors of the paparazzi, like the large cameras and calling out Kelce’s name.
No official statement has been made by either party, but there’s no denying that Swift and Kelce could be in a romantic relationship. Ella Rollins, a Taylor Swift fan and supporter at North Forsyth High School, says, “I think as long as Travis treats her well and as long as Taylor’s happy, then I’m happy.” Fans’ reactions are mixed, but everyone seems to have an opinion on their relationship. “It’s also none of my business,” Rollins adds. In a podcast episode, Kelce and his brother discussed “[his] personal life that’s not so personal,” which is another way the rumors have affected Kelce.
