‘23 Dawgs

Fourth+Quarter+Krypton+Fanfare+vs+Ole+Miss
Jackson Blackwell
Fourth Quarter Krypton Fanfare vs Ole Miss

We were the championship favorites to enter the year

After two of them in a row, that’s what we wanted to hear

The past two years, we had won it all

But we still knew the streak was bound to fall

The first couple of games were as easy as pie

But when the Gamecocks came to town, it was tough to get by

Despite their tough test, we kept on rolling

In the next game, the Dawgs looked very controlling

Now our toughest test of the year was here

A rivalry game in Jordan-Hare shook us with fear

Late in the game, it looked like the Tigers would come out on top

But Brock Bowers’ big game made all doubt come to a stop

A tough stretch of games was to come

But we silenced any doubt after beating Kentucky like a drum

From Missouri to Florida, everyone in our path was crushed

All of our critics were seemingly hushed

Big Orange looked tough as a trip to Neyland loomed large

The Dawgs looked to walk in and take complete charge

One explosive run showed that the Vols came to play

But it didn’t matter because the Dawgs had quite the day

Tech thought they would win and held their heads high

But a Dawgs win sent them home to cry

All we had to do was win the SEC title game

But The Tide loomed, hoping to put out our flame

We thought that no way them Dawgs wouldn’t win

But Bama looked like they might show us up again

The Dawgs came bursting out of the gates with an early lead

In the moment, it looked as if we’d surely succeed

Soon Milroe and Saban began dealing blows

The door to the playoff began to close

Down big late, we began a charge

Our hopes of winning began to enlarge

But Milroe was starting to run all over us

Time had run out now we had to load the bus

As the Tide celebrated, our hopes had been dashed

All of the Dawg fans’ hearts had been gashed

How could this be? We thought

Saban had once again left us distraught

Surely our season had been washed down the drain

There is no way to ease the pain

It looked like this team was as special as the last two

But those thoughts were dashed right out of the blue

Missing the playoffs is something our fans will hate

Now all that’s left is a date with Florida State

Despite the tough loss, we’ll come back better than ever

The ‘23 Dawgs we’ll remember forever

About the Contributor
Jackson Blackwell
Jackson Blackwell, Staff Writer
Hi! My name is Jackson Blackwell, and I have lived in Georgia my entire life. I am a staff writer for the Journalism program at North Forsyth High School, here in Cumming, Georgia. Also, I am a part of the cross country team at school. I will be taking seven classes at North Forsyth this year, with several different teachers. This is my first year as a member of the journalism program, and I am in the eleventh grade as a junior. The number one thing I enjoy the most as a sports fan is going to Georgia Bulldogs football and basketball games, as well as Atlanta Braves baseball games. I like watching games, or going to games, but prefer to go to them instead. I also enjoy doing things outdoors as well. My goal in journalism is to build on my writing skills, and gain experience in the journalism industry.
