Sunday evening at 6 p.m., three masked shooters attacked a group of partiers in California. The party was held at 200 Block on North Street in King City, with the victims standing outside on the front lawn. According to Police Chief James Hunt, the attackers showed up in a silver KIA, wearing dark clothing and masks, proceeded to kill four and injure seven people.
While the suspects are still unidentified, police were able to confirm four of the dead: 32-year-old Alicia Ramirez Aparicio, Francisco Aldape Perez and Olivo Perez Pina, along with 42-year-old Mario Guzman. There were multiple injuries, with three people being taken to Natividad Hospital in Salinas and another four who went to Mee Memorial Hospital. Unfortunately, one of the injured, a 20-year-old woman, was pronounced dead sometime later. Some sources claim it was a gang shooting; however, the King City Police are not ready to confirm anything yet.
The Los Angeles Times was able to confirm there were 11 injured that Sunday evening, with the police now offering a reward of $20,000 for any information people are willing to provide about the suspected shooters. Police also say these suspects are “armed and dangerous,” and to call 911 at once if they are seen.
Many people in California spoke out against the shooting. King City Councilmember Carlos DeLeon made a statement, claiming it was a “terrible tragedy” and they were doing everything they could for the families. The Independent would cover the shooting as well, stating that as of March 4, the suspects were still at large, and the incident in King City is the “70th such incident in the United States in 2024.”
Monterey County Supervisor Chris Lopez would also speak out in regard to the shooting, stating, “May the victims find strength and healing…and may we all help restore peace to our neighborhoods and communities.”
